Title says it all, i like that you can just type a file name into vray raw image file dialogue, but with split render channels you have to browse for some reason.
Yep, it is the same reason why the 3ds Max render output in the Common tab is not editable 
This has mostly to do with setting up the output file format options properly (e.g. bit depth etc).
