I’m new to V-Ray and Blender, and maybe it’s just because I don’t know much about them, but I’m having a problem with the texture. When I increase the texture scale, shadows and white stripes appear on the pole. What could be causing this?
Hi andy_koperski, when you make a texture very small (by increasing the scale), it’s hard to calculate all the tiny details at once, and this may result in these visual effects.
Thank you @zhanet.georgieva for your quick reply. So what’s the solution? The pole is quite a large object, and the texture on it needs to be dense.
Can you share the scene so I can take a look at the material?
Hi,
I’ve taken a close look at your scene and the material settings. Everything is actually working as it should, but here is what I found - I’ve noticed that the mapping on the pole is a bit stretched. Once you scale the texture, it becomes more obvious.
Overall, when you increase the scale (making the texture much denser), you are packing thousands of tiny micro-bumps into a small area. This makes the highlights much more concentrated and sharper, which is why it feels different. You can scale the texture the way you want to be and then make some tweaks to the material to achieve the desired look - you can adjust the roughness and the bump slightly, for example. Keep in mind that many things play a part in highlight calculations.
Hi, you can check the mapping on the pole. Is this the same pole mentioned in your previous message? Does this issue occur with every material applied to this geometry? What happens if you apply this material to a newly created box? Could you please provide the name of the material so I can test it?
just trying to help…did you apply the scale of the object that isn’t show the bump?
