Hello everyone,
just received my quad core today, but figuring out what would be the best pick for the cooler device…
i have the ASUS COMMANDO board and a typical width case…and since there r quite a few users here that have quad already i though u guys could point me to the right direction

I am really happy with my Arctic Cooling freezer 7 pro. It is rated as the best Heatsink/fan for the money for a lga775 cpu by custom PC.
Well, I installed Zalman 9500 (at 3.4Ghz with full load = 50C)

@3ghz mines the old stepping g3.
Stepping is “G0”
It’s like one of ours workstation based on QX6700 
P.S. Seems like my big tower is cooler that urs 
P.P.S. I’m not saying it is rock-solid station (@3.4 = @3.2 (%100 solid), but seems we’re 5 times lucky
Thermaltake Big Typhoon is supposed to be one of the best out there at the moment.
Never tried Thermaltake Big Typhoon, but my Zalman 9500 is absolutely quite.

I would highly recommend the thermalright ultra 120 extreme or the new IFX-14
just ordered g0 SLACR revision instad of B3 which i received…returning the shipment
so if i go for the one u suggested…should i go for the optional fan as well or should it do without?
got 2 internal fans already there in the case

Well for the ultra 120 extreme you need 1 120mm fan and the ifx needs 1 or 2 140mm fans
mounted in the heatsink or in the chasis?
heatsink… these heatsinks are designed for “active” use which means they need a fan on them.
They could potentially be used “passively” as in no fan.
But since your using a Quad core cpu, which you may well be overclocking active is the only way to go.
Get one that outputs high CFM ideally with low noise.
65CFM and higher is recommended.

Would be VERY suprised if it were better than thermalrights offer.
Thermalright usually are the top of the heatsink game.
Check some reviews if your keen.
I have only ever bought thermalright heatsinks.
