the best liquid / smoke dynamics simulation software on market?

Hello all,

the topic pretty much says it all.

would like to know your experience and recommendations.

thank you very much

best regards

From what i’ve heard, the top end is frantic’s ‘flood’ for liquids and fume for smoke.

http://www.franticfilms.com/software/products/flood/overview/

I have not had chance to play with either yet :frowning:

Flood is still not publically available sadly. There is Realflow with wich i had mixed experiences in the past. Fume for smoke/fire is a blast tho!

Regards,
Thorsten

We use Fume for all our fire & smoke effects now and, in my opinion, nothing beats it. I’ll be posting a new job soon with lots of Fume stuff so I’ll let you know when I do.

Flood is pretty nice a set of tools, and works marvels with VRay too, but it’s an internal product.
You could - not - see some water I rendered with VRay in W, of Oliver Stone. So good, that after comping I couldn’t tell the difference.

Fume’s also used and abused over here, as it allows for very nice results in a small amount of time.
And it allows for fire, smoke and so on, and can be mixed with pFlow, Krakatoa and so on.

For someone without a LOT of computing power, i’d suggest fume all the way.
Don’t try making an ocean with it though

thank you for the tips guys
