Yes, all was done in 3d even the fog
Fog was done with a corona volume material
Leaf shaders is a default shader (Evermotion model)
4.5k res / 8 hours rendering time in an old i7 24gb ram
Main references: ET, Strange Things, X Files, 52 Hz

Funny thing is that I saw this image in a few places on FB and never noticed that it’s actually Corona. 
I love that retro sci-fi feeling. Very well executed image!
