Another project behind  This time, the biggest challenge was the thatched roof, typical of British architecture. Hope to hear from you guys- how did I manage to make it work?

This project was made in cooperation with architect Ralph Kent from the UK.

Well done! The roof turned out great. Almost 100% of my roofs are American asphalt shingles - boring!

Really nice.. I really like the lighting.

About thatched roofs…wow.. I’ve learned something..never had to create one… before make a research I thought they were too shaped…but actually they’re like you did… good job!!

It’s great to see something very different from the usual and you did a great job.

I’m guessing the thatch is fur, though I guess it could be FP.

uhmm.. if I had to do it…I think that I’ll try before with a displacement…just because I suppose it’s easier to model the thickness… but let’s see his reply.

I thought about displacement but I went with fur due to how it’s being shaded…looks very much like a hair shader to me but could be wrong

I am also curious how the roof was made!

Hmm, I changed my mind. I think the clue was in the post…Poliigon, so I’d assume it’s this https://www.poliigon.com/texture/norfolk-reed-thatched-roof-texture/10910

Nice job on the thatched roof. I’ve had my fair share of those, always a challenge to make them look real. Tried displacement, but in the end I settled for unwrapping and Forest Pack, but that was a while ago and yours looks a lot better.
