The V-Ray rendering window won't open in Maya

Hi guys,

Suddenly, my V-Ray for Maya stopped working. When I press the IPR or Render button, the render window doesn’t open and no error message is displayed.

I tried different Maya files and reinstalled V-Ray, deleting all related files from AppData, but nothing worked. It doesn’t seem to be a licensing issue either.

I’m using V-Ray PLE 6 (version 6.2.22.1) for Maya 2025.

are you sure it’s not just hiding behind Maya? on some operating systems, Maya can have funky window ordering. there is an environment variable to keep it above Maya if this is your issue.

It’s not that

When I click on IPR for the first time, the screen opens for microseconds and then closes. It doesn’t open again after that, and there are no other screens. I tested the variable as a precaution, and the problem persists.

Try resetting your render settings (Presets > Import Render Settings > Default) and see if that makes a difference.

Have you simply tried trashing your Maya prefs? In fact you can probably just delete the windows.Prefs file. This is almost always the culprit with this kind of issue.
