THRILLED - Mirror reflection is almost perfect now

by the way, its a room to test the mirror in 2.5, its just that the two wall and the ceiling is a mirror

I cant tell if your being sarcastic or not. Because the sides of the couch are missing and the red grill are missing parts.

Multiple reflections are unlikely to work any time soon at a scenario that involves more than a teapot and two planes in under a few minutes per image on an average GPU. Luckily, they are rarely visually essential (except testscenes) so you can use a shortcut an be 500x faster.

@tedvitale.cg totally sarcastic I always shot separate renders for my reflections for post-prod because of it

@Thomas_Willberger I get that triple reflection is not a must. But try representing a lobby or a bathroom, or a gym class. All those are ultra hard to make realistic. Although what are you saying about the shortcut?

I was talking about the shortcuts that we use in Enscape to avoid the computational complexities

Thomas,

I doubt you were serious with the 500x comment. I am curious though, to make a single reflection look as one would expect, even if it required a material keyword or property to isolate it, are we looking at 2x slower?

I would be happy to accept even 4x slower for the occasions where the client will notice it and I would be expected to be able to make a simple reflection happen (ie. “Visually Essential”)

Thanks!

@benjaminriendeau @Thomas_Willberger

For one of the works you posted here: Master bedroom - Sketchup

Could you do a comparison of Enscape 2.4 vs Enscape 2.5 without post production using “Ultra” setting? I think this will provide a fairer ground for discussion.

We can clearly see the missing clothings/wrong reflection in the mirror.

In Unreal Engine, this cannot be solved using SSR reflection, it will require the expensive “Planar reflections” capture. I wonder if Enscape 2.5 has something similar? Please take a look here: https://docs.unrealengine.com/en-us/Engine/Rendering/LightingAndShadows/PlanarReflections

Those recessed lights reflection is the most glaring to me, totally hurts the scene.

@joeykeys here you go with the latest release. Actually shows nothing

Thanks for your shot Benjamin. I hope Enscape Developers can take this real project’s setting (mirrored closet of sort) as a benchmark to mirror/reflection rendering improvement.

It is very common for interior scene to have mirror/walk in wardrobe.

Good Morning!
Sorry for my English.
I work exclusively with interior designs in Brazil.
The only thing that does not allow me to migrate to the enscape is the reflections of mirrors.
Should have an option ... even slower to solve this problem. Sorry ..but reflections are ridiculous. In a presentation it is clear to the client that they are problems in rendering. I hope that a solution will be found for this, which I consider a serious error. tks
In these examples I show a render with enscape and then edited putting a vray rendering plugin ...
 a lot of time-consuming work !!
