Is that Granit? if yes reduce at least to 1/3 of this size…
Gonçalo
Yes it is and yes your right …way to big i think the bricks look to big as well
I would reduce a little the bump amount, and beware of the vertical gaps on the bricks, they are bigger than the horizontal ones.
Have you put a shadow mapped light? Maybe should be better to change for Vray shadows, unless this cloudy day is intentional.
And I dont`t know if the railings could be thinner also.
And finally another point of view, with vertical lines corrected.
Hope it helps.
Joao.
thanks for you comments twinxel
the scene is lit with an Hdri taken from the site with 1 vray light just to bring up the shodows a bit.
the handrail is to scale as per the cad drawings ![]()
actually an hdri will not be your best bet here. If you were adding an object to a real photo then it will work well. but since its a recreation of the entire building then it might not work since your hdri will contain the building in it. So basically your building in the hdri will be contributing to the light. and also your 3d building will be contributing to the light. If that was an empty lot where a building would be built and you took an HDRI of the area so that the surrounding buildings would be in reflections and lighting then that would make a bit more sence. But, i could easily be wrong. the lighting does look nice. but i agree it looks like a cloudy day.
The Hdr was made from a photo i took of the sky and yes it is cloudy,
it always is in the uk…lol..
Natty
heres is the image rerendered, with maps scaled down abit…
I like the lighting…
Anothe suggestion, like João said I agree that it should have less bump in the floor bricks. Probably I would also try to desaturate the brick color and perhaps a little more darker too, to focus more the intervention.
Gonçalo
ah. if its just of the sky then thats perfect. was what i was going to recommend to look for an hdri of just sky but you were 1 step ahead there hehehe. i like the image by the way. didnt way that easrlier and the new one is nice
last one i promise…
A little more contrast would be nice
I know its in England ![]()
The floor looks to tilled, try to mix different RGB levels with a noise map, perhaps it helps.
Gonçalo
A litle experience with photoshop…
Gonçalo
very cool
could you save that down as an action for me ??
would be a great help
1- Auto-contrast
2- levels
3- Duplicate the image
4- Soft light filter to the new layer
thats it ![]()
Gonçalo
nice, i dig the lighting
I may be worng but is the reflection on the granite a little too much, or maybe you could blur it.
thanks for all your help guys … ive got the image now what i was looking to achieve …
thank you

Hey guy, I fink so little repeted, the granit, On Photoshop, make a new bitmap with randon propriet.
Use the Off-set filter to do it, ok
Are You using HDR?
This is a beatiful image, nice to you!
Hey Natty:
Can you give a quick explanation of taking a sky only HDRI?
Are you just shooting up at the sky and then tiling the HDRI across a plane?
Do you look to get the sun (if present) in it or do you solely rely on the VRay Light?
--Jon
well the way i do it (right or wrong) is to take a shot of the sky with my digital camera, take that image into HDRI Shop, convert the image to a Floating point Tiff and then just take that into max as the envitoment and vray skylight… and yes the vray light as a spere on very low just to get nicer shadows and better illumination… very basic …but works for me every time.
