can’t you just darken the lamp shade material ?

Another tip, maybe you can try to set two lights with appropriate Include/Exclude list, in order to get the desired illumination result.

Use a vray override material and have the light version in the GI slot and the dark version in the base material. You can also seperate the reflection material with this.
