Are translucent materials in the Vrayscans library? I couldn’t see them in the download area but have seen a video showing this as available.
yes, but the feature is relatively new and as i see only three fabrics have translucency, perhaps we have to rescan the fabrics to make them translucent
edit: actually there are many fabrics in the library that are translucent, but apparently they are not tagged as translucent, for example this one Downloads
I was very interested in the ability to use Vrayscans for leaf materials as shown here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lxbY8cKRqK8
well, we can add some leafs to the library ![]()
That would be great.
Has any Leaf materials been added? Can’t seem to find them in the library.
Cheers.
Hi,
You can download a sample scene and sample materials from here:

Thanks for the link, that’s really cool.
Cheers.
Hi there,
what about scanning slices of small fruits or Veggies like lemon, pickle and such?
would it be doable? I have a request for such a job and scanning these slices would save days of work!
I think it’s doable, we have two translucent material types, “flat” - like leafs, fabrics and other sheet-like materials, and volumetric - like translucent plastic, wax, resin…
The volumetric translucent mode is exactly what you need, it behaves like the SSS Vray materials, but with all the benefits of the vrscans. I will try to dig out some images to show how it looks
Oooohhhh, would love to get my hands on this. We need more materials like that. Innovation!
nice! But i wonder is it volumetric 3d mapped then?
Like in the lemon example its very important to have the 3d structure inside the cells. Not only 2d mapped
It’s 2d mapped only, but for translucent materials the result is pretty good, because you can’t see throught them, they are not transparent.
Our devices are designed to capture translucency, not transparency, except near to full transparency (to handle the materials with holes).
But no need to guess, we just can try to scan a slice of lemon and see the result
That Would be awesome!
Any chance to Send You pm or Mail?
yes, send to ivaylo.katev@chaosgroup.com
hey Ivaylo, did you had a chance to try allready?
Not yet, i mentioned it to Mitko, who is operating the device, but he also has its tasks, to we have to put it somewhere between. But good that you remind me, this would be a good test
k great. Looking forward to it. thanks!
