I have downloaded and installed VRay 1.50.00 Max 9 x86 to Viz 2008. I am getting an unhandled exception error that is crashing Viz at startup. I uninstalled VRay and it started up fine, re-installed VRay and get the same error.
Here I’m running viz 2008 + vray x86 + wibu x64 + dongle with out any error … at the moment 
try it again, beestee - sounds like you and I have a startup file that’s already prepped for vray, right? I got this the first time I loaded up VIZ08, but it didn’t happen the second time, and that time I was asked if I wanted to upgrade my sun/sky/cam to the new model. The other option is to rename your vizstart.max file.
Right now, I can’t get VRay to see my dongle license - any clues?

Okay, it is working…somewhat. I am still having trouble opening old files that have pre-existing VRay settings.
every now and then, I’ll get an old file that’ll bail on me when I try and open it. Sometimes reopening it works, but other times, I have to merge it into a new file. dunno why this happens - vlado?

Is DR still working through the same methods that are outlined in the tutorial on Vizdepot? I’m getting ready to jump into it once again, now that backburner slaves can host the DR and add slaves “on the fly.”
We have an IT guy that knows quite a bit about services and scripting, and he seems to think that with these new features it will be plausable to have completely dynamic processor usage on our render farm! :shock:
I would assume so, but I’ve been known to be made an ass out of many a time. When I get a second, I’ll force my wife off her machine and try it here at home. If there are any changes, I’ll post them as an addendum to my tutorial at the Depot.

quick (dumb) question: where should i find vizstart.max?
found it. 
didn’t realise you had to create it yourself! spent about 15 mins searching my computer for vizstart.exe :roll:
1. Launch Autodesk VIZ and click File > Reset.
2. Configure the scene the way you would like to have the program start up. This can include:
Viewport configuration settings
Unit configuration settings
Default geometry
Any option or setting saved in the scene
3. Save this scene to the following path : <Viz Install Location>\Scene
When you restart VIZ, this scene will be used as a template for any new scenes.
