UNHANDLED EXCEPTION all day long

Happy new year everyone.

It seems that ever since I upgraded to 2.20.02 I get an UNHALTED EXCEPTION error several times a day at render start.

It happens whether I’m working standalone or in DR and on a variety of scenes.

“Last marker is at ./scr/vray.cpp, line 421: Vray::freeData(), clearing render settings.”

See screen shot bellow.

Any ideas?

Do you use any other plugins (multiscatter etc)? I don’t get this here, so if you can get me a scene, no matter how simple, it will also be useful to figure out what’s going on.

Best regards,
Vlado

does it happen on all the workstations? if it only happens on one, it could be a bad install. Doing a clean install might resolve your issue.

I gave it a couple of days and the issue hasn’t re-appeared so far. The only plugin I was using was Npower Power Translators. I’ll post back if it occurs again and investigate further. Thanks for your replies.

AHHHH… getting the same thing. I am using forest pro in the scene… also my proxies were not showing up. I installed 22001 / reinstalled 21001 and the error is still there. Scene was fine last night. Frustrated.

Have you tried contacting the guys at Itoo about this?

Vlado

yup… waiting for a reply.

OK,

So I got everything back working, but with 2.10.01 and the Forest 3.7.2… now I am Leary to upgrade. itoo said that they tested it with 2.2.00.1. Any one else having issues with the update?

Not exactly, we are using Forest 3.7.3 with VRay 2.20.00.2, not .00.1. Also this version of Forest was compiled with the latest SDK (.00.2) . Instead, for v.3.7.2 we used VRay 2.0 SP1.

Anyways, in our tests, v.3.7.3 works fine with both VRay versions (2.0 SP1 and 2.20.00.2), so i don’t know what may be the problem.

Ok then; if you still have the scene around can you send it to me for testing?

Best regards,
Vlado

sure. I saved/zipped a copy of the error scene. Upin’ right now. File : Mill_shell_night

I think I got it working.

So what was the problem?

Vlado

According to my IT guy, there was an HTML character in my directory root folder “middle dot” and this was causing the errors. looks like this. “D:\ckowal\Rendering\•ANN_Prod”

Thanks for the pointer; let me see if I can reproduce this here…

Vlado

Also - unhandled exception when using ornatrix hair with vray on top + 3ds max hair and fur at the same time…

Do you have a scene for this? Works fine in my simple test.

Vlado
