Unwanted Data Blocks when appending assets after last Update

  1. Create new .blend.
  2. Create a material.
  3. Save the file.
  4. Create another empty .blend.
  5. File > Append.
  6. Append only the material.
  7. “Localize All” enabled.
  8. Open a Material datablock selector.

Result:
A local copy of the material exists,
but an additional linked “L Material”
from the source .blend also exists.

Expected:
Only the appended local datablock exists.
No linked datablock/source library should remain.

This issue appears only when VRay for Blender is installed. I tested all plugins step by step. Gone when Blender is back on factory settings - no Plugins. Appears again the moment VRay for Blender is installed. Same when VRay is disabled - Append works as expected. Enabled linked ‘ghost’ files appear.

Any chance for a quick fix? This is really hard to work with.

Can you try with latest stable from here, we fixed some of these problems recently. Chaos

Am I able to revert the installation to the latest official stable, if I encounter unexpected issues with this build? Need to finish something and need to make sure that I have a working installation.

Second question: Which version should I try? vray_74001_blender520_dr2_bigsur_arm64_stable_663 - correct one for mac?

Yes that installer is V-Ray for Blender 5.2 for MacOS and if you encounter problems you should be able to revert back. The build includes only bug-fixes that have already been QA tested. Mainly for splines, gradients and appending/linking scenes.

Issue is gone when working with the release marked ‘663’. Thanks again for the fast response and solution!
