Update Messed up Carpaint in Sketchup

I used the carpaint keyword for getting a nice look to my plastic chairs for school lunch rooms. The keyword was perfect for the application with beautiful results. Now with the new update the carpaint look is terrible. It totally ruins the entire rendering and VR experience. There is no way to recreate the same effect with any other material settings. Please let me know how to get the old carpaint keyword to work like it did in 2.4. Thanks

Change your plastic’s names to “plastic” instead of “carpaint” and then it should work better. Actually, plastic chairs do not have a car paint material in reality. Therefore, it is better to assign a proper material keyword or edit their material with the Enscape material editor rather than fixing wrong material assignments afterwards in the rendering software.

The problem is that your plastic presetting is not great, especially for high polished hard plastic chairs used in education. The old carpaint setting was actually almost spot on for the chairs. Regardless what keyword I use, the larger issue is that you have changed what the keyword setting does. This means my existing project no longer renders properly, when i went to run it in VR for the client, it was all messed up. In my opinion you should not mess with what an existing setting does to that extent. Adding customization and more options to the base setting would be awesome, but a whole sale change is not ideal for projects in development.

Thanks!
