Using Particle Volume to prevent generation of splashes/foam

Hello all. I am working on a boat animation, and am trying to constrain the generation of splashes, and then foam (generated from splashes) using a Particle Volume. I am doing this as the Phoenix box ahead of the travelling boat gets some splashes when I render a wider view, which is not good.

All I am able to get is no splashes being generated at all, and not constrained by the simple geometry I am using.

In the screen grab below is a low resolution sim at frame 40, with no particle volume in use. I can see the green points where the splashes are being created. This is a much lower resolution than the final sim.

I turn on Birth Volume and select the box:

But the sim then creates no splashes at all. I made the box only on one side of the boat as a test, but there are not splashes being created at all. What am I doing wrong?

This is 3dsMax 2025 with Phoenix 5 ADV v 5.24.00

Many thanks,

Ahhh, so I was using an include for the sim, so I needed to include the geometry in that, and then of course turn the geometry to not be a solid in the Phoenix properties!

Anything else I’m missing?
