Hi,
I’m noticing an issue with V-Ray GPU where the normal map slot only seems to work with bitmap textures.
I am using a VRayNormalMap plugged into the bump slot of a VRayMtl.
If I feed anything other than a bitmap into the VRayNormalMap for example:
- V-Ray Color
- procedural normal maps
- OSL-generated normal output
They are ignored in GPU rendering.
The same setup works correctly in V-Ray CPU, so this seems specific to the GPU engine.
Is this an expected limitation, or is there something I might be missing?
Thanks.
Most likely a limitation. I’ll ask around and report back.
Devs said it may be something else. Logged the issue (VGPU-7153) for further investigation.
Thanks for the update @hermit.crab . I can provide a simple test scene if needed.
It’s reproducible with a VRayColor; I presume it will suffice for now.
Yeah, same here. I posted it on my old thread too. Bump slot is ignored.
Work has already started on a fix. I’ll inform you whenever there’s a nightly build with which to test.
Sweet! Thanks
Take care (since 20 characters are needed)
