V-Ray locking up / crashing during render ... need help!

V-Ray V-Ray for Rhino Issues

I am running the very latest Rhino 5-64 bit with V-Ray 1.5.22165 (ADV) on Windows 7 pro 64.

I can open files, access many V-Ray panels, work on materials, load new visopts … but as soon as I render it locks up and I have to force-quit Rhino. When I re-launch, I get an error message stating, “Failure to exit previous session. We have detected that V-Ray was not properly shut down… etc.”

I have uninstalled, then re-installed several times, but no luck yet. I made sure to remove the dongle until the new app was re-installed. I even tried an old suggestion to run Rhino as an administrator. Nothing works.

This computer also has a copy of Rhino 4 + V-Ray 1.05 and its running just fine.

Please help! I need to get this working.

Not sure yet… I submitted the data requested and I’m waiting to hear back. I’ll keep you posted if you’d like to know.

Yes, could be good to know if there is a solution - not that this problem appears during a tight deadline. Better to know how to fix it.

I guess you have the same problem as I had. It’s a dongle issue.

Go to:

and read “Reprogramming a Dongle” carefuly and follow the steps.
Then it is working perfectly fine
