I am just experimenting with the new hybrid rendering engine, and bringing in some VFX work with Thinking Particles. This might be a Cebas issue, but I realize when using V-Ray RT my thinking particles renders with only the wireframe color. It does not bring in any textures.
This does work fine in V-Ray Adv. Are there any workarounds for this?
With the huge speed increase and, from the sound of it, better memory management it would be great to use RT for this type of work.
just regular VrayMtl with some diffuse bitmaps. Nothing fancy.
I found one workaround, to enable Groups as Objects in the master settings, and then manually adding materials to the objects created. It seems to work with RT in this case, but might add other issues with other setups. I.e. if not all particles in a group should have the same material.
I guess that does mean it’s not the material itself that’s the problem though?
Groups as Objects - Activate this check-box to create invisible objects in 3ds Max
that can be selected and assigned standard 3ds Max Object Properties. These invisible objects
will be created for each particle Group that is generated in the Particle Group Tree View.
