The sky texture doesn’t work, neither by setting it manually nor by adding it automatically with V-Ray Sun and Sky. It simply isn’t calculated for the lighting, but it does show up in the camera view.
Can you share a bit more information, I am a bit confused ? Or even the scene if possible here or through support.chaos.com
Is your Sun object properly linked to the TexSky node? What is the expected result in the scene?
Look, a while ago I tried creating a sun and sky with a simple scene consisting of a cube, a plane, and a sun and sky, and everything works correctly. I’m sending you the scene so you can check it out.
Look, here I started from scratch in the video: the light turns on and off. Also, the camera looks weird… It happened to me with another scene from these tutorials, where the render never finished.
By the way, thinking that the scene might be corrupted, instead of opening these files provided by MographPlus—which are from an older version of Blender and V-Ray—what I’m doing is opening a clean scene from scratch and adding everything as a collection in my Blender. But even so, something seems to be broken in this scene. By the way, I’m on Kubuntu 24 LTS with the latest stable NVIDIA drivers (580) and my GPU is a 4070.
Hi, I saw that you tried to download the file that same day. At that time, I gave you the ok for the download. Were you able to access the Blender file afterward?
Thank you.
I was out of office last week. I did look at the scene today and it seems there are few problems here. First did you perhaps append the scene in an old one? Or didn’t upgrade it? There are some export errors from a gradient ramp texture which is broken.
Hi, the procedure at first was to open MographPlus’ version directly, which is from an older version of V-Ray and Blender. I saw that the sun failed — or you had to move it a little for it to start working in the IPR — so I decided to start appending the collections into a clean scene with the current Blender and V-Ray (by the way, I’m on the latest nightly build), to check that I also had some inconsistencies in my scenes for these tutorials.
Well, this one in particular shows this lighting error that you can see in the last video, where there’s no global illumination.
I hope you enjoyed your week off.
