Vantage 2.2 Crash

I was waiting for Vantage 2.2 so I could finish a project since the latest V-Ray broke some things. Opening the project that worked before the latest Vantage now crashes Vantage.

Can you share the log ?
If you prefer, you can send it directly to my e-mail, as it will contain names of textures/etc on your disk.

The new Vantage version supports displacement and hair, which will increase the memory requirements if your scene has these features.

Greetings,
Vladimir Nedev

Yes, there is displacement. I’ll try with displacement off.

Same problem here, i have no displacement in my scene .

Can you send us the scene for examination and/or the Vantage log file ?

Vladimir Nedev

i work with a RTX 4090 via live link. Only render the first frame.

I mean the Vantage log from “%appdata%\Chaos Group\Vantage\debug_log.txt” .
However, most likely we will need the scene too.
Do you have scattering fog (VRayEnvironmentFog) enabled in your scene - we have a known issue in Vantage 2.2 where it may cause a crash in combination with other features.

Greetings,
Vladimir Nedev

here it is
debug_log_pid14940.txt (87.9 KB)

sorry wrong file
debug_log.txt (27.7 KB)

From the log file it looks like the live link animation sequence was aborted.
Do you get a crash or a message box with an error ?
Can you send us the scene so we can try to reproduce it ?

Greetings,
Vladimir Nedev

the message appears to me is the same as the initial post “minidump …”

here is the link of the scene

If you can’t send us the scene, can you send us the minidump file mentioned in the message ?
Edit: requested access from my work e-mail.

Greetings,
Vladimir Nedev

you can download now!

Yes, thank you.

As a work around for these crashes (until we release a patch), you can try disabling all animation on your ForestPro objects.
This has the additional benefit of not exporting the ForestPro instances on each frame, which can save a lot of time when rendering an animation.

One reason for a ForestPro object to be marked as animated is the Limit to Visibility option,
since that changes the instances each frame if the camera is animated. Make sure that’s off.

In your scene, two ForestPro objects have Limit to Visibility enabled and are the reason for the crash : “Forest grama” and “Forest Arvores genericas”

Hello Vladimir! Any updates? oh! i didn’t see the last post! Thanks!!

hello Vladimir!
I tested the workaround but only works in the first frames, after a few frames the same error appear!

Are you sure you disabled it on all ForestPro objects in the scene ?

Can you send us the new dump file and/or modified scene ?
We will release a patch soon that fixes the crash reported in this thread.
However we need to be sure there isn’t a different type of crash.

Also note that while the Vantage patch will fix the crash, animated ForestPro objects won’t have correct tint color/uvs if frame!=0.
For this, there will be a V-Ray for 3dsMax patch at some point, as the root cause was there.

NIce! i’m sure i disabled all “limits to visibility” on forests. i have 1 warning about Vray distance material maybe can be that.
For now i have to roll back to previosu vray version (still with vantage 2.2) but times between frames it’s ten times more!
With the new vray is so quickly! (new vray 20 minuts 240 frames with 6.12 2 horus and 20 min!!!
that i have to roll back the vantage too?
