I have to send a project to a render farm, I’m trying to decide whether to use the standalone on my local PC, or just denoise as part of the rendering proecss (on the farm)
I just read something about lens effects not being available once denoised on stand-alone, is this true?
But then again it’s an animation, and I think one advantage of denoising as a complete sequence is the frame blending, although I’m not sure this is really an issue anymore as flicker isn’t as much of an issues as it used to be?
It will still help reducing sizzling noise (rather than the old bubbling of the LC), and act as reconstructor for texture and geometric detail, thanks to the multi-frame approach.
Try it on a short piece of the sequence, you’ll see.
That could be the case, yes.
You’d ideally want to apply lensFX after denoising anyway, so you should do it in post.
Ofc, you can also use standalone and do it like in the post you linked.
Ok, here’s another one for you, I accidentally saved a whole sequence as seperate exrs, rather than multichannel compiled. Is it still possible to denoise these with the standalone denoiser and gain the benefits of the extra denoise channels somehow?
Edit: scrap that, looks like it didn’t save the extra channels anyway.
Double Edit: It would be good for me to use the Cryptomatte though, which I understand will only be recognized by AE in multichannel format. If anyone can suggest a way to get all 4500 frames in to comped multichannels what would be really useful!
