Vertex color support

Hi Enscape,

Are there any plans to add vertex color support for your Rhino plugin?

Cheers,

Matt

@mgi , no plans regarding vertex color support yet - I can gladly file it as a feature request. What would be your use case for this functionality? :slight_smile: Thank you in advance and welcome to our forum!

Our use case is for scientific visualization overlays. More specifically visualization of CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) simulation results over AEC models. Simulation data (scalars, like temperature/pressure/velocity magnitude) is often associated with the vertices (or faces) of a dense mesh, rather than UV look ups into a texture mapped to a low poly mesh.

I realize it’s not an apples-to-apples comparison, but some examples might be Rhino’s support for vertext colors in it’s Cycles renderer, or Paraviews OSPray renderer.

Thanks a lot for your feedback - a corresponding feature request to support Vertex colors will be filed accordingly. :slight_smile:

@Demian_Gutberlet

Hi Demian,
Any updates on this issue?
I am also working on some mesh based visualization with colored assigned vertices.

@Clive_1 - Unfortunately not at the present time, other priorities take precedence. It is a story in our developer agenda though, so up-voted it on your behalf.

@Pete_Chamberlain
Thanks for your reply,
I’m still wondering why this thread has been marked as “resolved” though.

I’ve marked it as “Unresolved” again - still, be aware that this is, as mentioned, not high priority right now and it may take a while until support for this is being implemented, if at all. Still, if anyone else wants to share their feedback regarding this subject, let us know. :slight_smile:
