Re: view to the exterior
very nice! i like the leather and chrome materials
well done
Re: view to the exterior
thank you boomer.
it’s the magic of the hdri hehe 8)
Re: view to the exterior
why is HDRI necessary on that scene? If you used that image as background, and gave it enough of a bitmap multiplier, shouldnt the chrome and leather already correctly reflect it?
Re: view to the exterior
yep, i mean, the hdri is not necesary, but one thing that i liked in reflectios is that instead of just reflecting the blue monochromatic tone of the vray sky, they reflect parts of the grass, trees, and clouds… you can see that on the leather material…
chrome material is just one of the presets.
i mean, this is just a test, but i’m thinking that perhaps illuminating interiors with a hdri’s would produce interesting results in reflection layers… but let’s see ![]()
Re: view to the exterior
Is the HDRI only used for GI? Because I can never get it right for the background. I always have to use PS for the background. As with your other topic, my main criticism here is that maybe the table surface is a bit too reflective? I think the floor could do with a higher res texture though, especially in a close up like yours.
The leather material is fantastic! Care to share it?
Re: view to the exterior
hi stevbo.
in this case i also used the hdri for the background, as i said, because i wanted to see how reflections behave.
leather material is just a simple color with a reflection layer. there is no bump nor map, just a little “smart sharpen filter” in ps.
have a nice day! 8)

Thanks. ![]()
I think if I used HDRI for the background, I would save the file as a PNG and then replace the background with a higher res image.
