Viewport in Maya 2024

Hi all

Some of you might have noticed that V-Ray materials appear brighter in the viewport of Maya 2024. This is due to a change of the default lighting in Maya 2024. Autodesk has made this change in order to reach parity with PBR shading models and lighting in different renderers and to allow a better transition to an image based lighting by default and a hydra based viewport. Chaos and Autodesk are looking at ways to work with this change.

Apologies if this has caused any inconvenience.

I was wondering if it was just me. Now I know why that is happening.

It doesn’t seem to affect the actual rendering process though, which is good.

Thanks for the feedback!

Thanks Petya , this is a very important information to know about.

Note that you can bring back the old behaviour quite easily, by setting the Default light intensity to 1.0 in the Viewport 2.0 settings:

Thank you. Was thinking about the cause of this
