Virtual Reality Headset

I am looking into which VR headset I should purchase and want to go with an oculus product but the Rift is no longer being produced. Does anyone use the Meta/Oculus Quest 2? On the enscape hardware requirements it looks like there is a work around but it is not officially supported.

Just seeing if that is an option I should consider or not.

Thanks!

Hi @emma.brennan and welcome to our Forum.

The Meta Quest 2 is a great pick for Enscape as long as your machine meets our dedicated VR requirements as well. You’ll currently also have to install Steam + SteamVR to make everything work, but many users have already reported a good experience using Enscape and the Quest 2.

Let me know in case any further specific questions come up!

Is HTC Vive Focus compatible? I see that it says HTC Vive but I’m not sure if that includes all of their products.

I had the same question -

I think would be great to add quest 2 as a “officially suported” device.

Also - Does it make a bud difference to buy a 128 or 264Gb QUEST 2?

Does it matter for the enscape VR use the ammount of Gb?

Thanks anyway for your feedback.

Sam.

The HTC Vive Focus will be compatible with Enscape, but the controllers visible inside of VR may not fit the ones you are holding in your actual hands since it’s also not a headset we fully officially support I’m afraid (also since there aren’t many users who seem to use this device so the demand is lower). That is why we do generally mainly reccomend the Quest 2 due to it popularity and consistent great user feedback throughout.

If you would have the chance to temporarily try the Vive Focus with Enscape though you could also go that route - I just don’t want you to pay for a headset which may not fully work in every aspect in unison with Enscape as expected.

In case you like I can gladly inquire one of our (Forum) users here regarding their experience with the Vive Focus - As said though it seems there aren’t too many customers who use this VR headset.

Hi there Sam!

Thanks for your inquiry too - We’re still in the process of adding it as an “official device” so to speak but it should work without any flaws already as long as you make use of Steam + SteamVR, which actually improved the performance as well compared to the previous system.

Also, the amount of space 128 or 264GB really does not matter at all if you only connect the headset wired/wireless to stream Enscape VR.

That would be great if you could ask feedback if possible.

Thanks!

Pardon I should’ve asked earlier but, you do refer to the Vive Focus 3, correct? Or is it another model after all? If so, I’ve contacted said user and await a reply.

I haven’t actually purchased one yet - just looking at options right now but the Focus 3 would probably be what I’d get.

Of course Emma, thanks a lot for the info - One of our users ( @Autengruber_Raumkonzept thank you so much) in this Forum was so very kind as to get back to me and he states that the Vive Focus 3 works rather well in combination with Enscape.

They’re using the device wireless only though so I cannot make any statements about the tethered connection I’m afraid. I can only let you know that the Quest 2 in this regard works fine with a cable - Be also aware that the resolution of the Vive Focus 3 is higher than that of the Quest 2, which in turn also requires a more capable machine (the user is using an RTX 3080) and due to the wireless nature also a capable router (5GHZ bandwidth, if you need some examples let me know). You can turn down the resolution of course too though, but that may result in a (more) blurry image overall.

Can you also perhaps let me know which GPU is currently built into your computer?

Thanks for the help - The GPU built in is NVIDIA RTX A3000 (intel(R) UHD Graphics.
