VR/Walkthrough Scavenger Hunt

A couple years ago, we designed a new office for ourselves. Around 6 months ago, I thought it’d be fun to mess around dusting off and polishing up the model. The majority of this work was done on my own time. As I was getting to a point where it was good enough to call “finished” or be comfortable showcasing it. I thought it’d be a fun to set up a scavenger hunt for our recent employee appreciation week. I put 1000 of the Gold Pineapple assets in the scene. 400 inside the building and 600 outside. I had people use the Collaborative Annotation tool for marking pineapples they found.

It worked out pretty well. It crashed a few times, but as long as people were sync’ing revit, they didn’t lose too many. but as the annotations stacked up, the performance dropped. But it did get around 500 annotations before it would flush the RAM after creating a few issues, and revit didn’t have enough memory to sync. Next time, I’ll definitely reduce the number of hunt items, knowing the pc struggles with so many annotations. I figured I’d hit a threshold, so it was an interesting test. It also was a great way to get more coworkers familiar with using Enscape.

I started off with some basic Enscape instructions for Navigation, Creating Issues and Taking Screenshots. I also provided 20 “cheat codes”, that were screenshots of pineapples around the scene. Everyone that played, really liked it.

I’ll share as many pictures as able of the high end (non-photoshopped) renderings, cheat codes and an overall shot showing all the markers.

These are our working models for the project a couple years ago. The topography came from our C3D model. The polishing off of these old models came out pretty nice.
