Hi,
Please make sure that you are running the latest V-Ray license server version. If you had previously old version installed you might started the old version of the license server.
It may be a firewall that prevent the connection to the license server - please turn it off temporarily or to add as an exception.
If you still have problems with the license, please contact us at support@chaosgroup.com and my colleagues will assist you.
Thank you .
When I start the Vray Licence server I get this
Can not start VRLserver application due to another instance running.
Also
Why would the older version still be there, as it un installs the old version before it installs the new?

Probably you have the V-ray license already started or running as a service. Do you see the V-ray license server icon on your taskbar? If no, most probably it’s running as a service.
Try to stop the service and then start the V-ray license server manually from program files/chaos group/v-ray adv for 3DS max xxxx/Licensing (make sure that you choose the Max version where v-ray 3.0 is installed)

If you have other V-ray versions installed ( 2.x on different Max version) you have to make sure that the license server has been started from V-Ray 3.0 Adv .
The message that you get is most probably due to V-Ray license server being registered and running as Windows service.
Please stop V-Ray license server service from :
Control Panel>Administrative Tools>Services
in the list locate VRLService , right-click on it and choose “Stop”
After that please launch V-Ray license server manually and check its status to verify that your dongle has the proper licenses.
To get the status, please open a web browser on the machine where the dongle is plugged in and V-Ray license server started and enter in the address field:
http://localhost:30304/getstatus
In the list check if you see the license for V-Ray 3.0 ADV for 3ds max available.
Hi I just wanted to say thank you for the help.
It turned out that I had to send back the file from local host and the flash the dongle.
I don’t see this written anywhere, had to lean the hard way.
Bu thank you I am up and running now.
Also Multiscatter is up to date also if anybody is wondering.

Hi,
Thank you for the update.
It is very important to use the RTU file on the machine where dongle is plugged in.
I think that we have this information somewhere in our new online documentation.
However, i’m glad to hear that you license issue is solved now.
