VRay 5 Render Elements not color corrected

Hi,
I may have missed a checkbox somewhere but is there a way to have my Render Elements (Specular, Reflection, ect.) color corrected the same way as my beauty pass.

F.E. when my beauty pass is a bit over exposed I will use a layer exposure to reduce the general lighting but, it seems to not affect my Specular and Reflection pass.
So, while I’m saving separately my RE the Specular and Reflection stay over exposed, that’s very problematic for me.

Previously on VRay Next the color correction where applied on the RE too.
Is it a bug or it is the way it’s supposed to behave now ?

Anybody else with the same problem ?

Could you expand on what it is you’re trying to achieve?

Hi Lele,

with VRay Next when I’m saving a Specular pass, it is color corrected like the RGB Color pass.
In VRay 5 The color correction automatically turn off when I check the Render Elements so I can’t save them color corrected.

Is there a way to let the color correction layers activated on the render elements ?

I attached a screenshot of the problem I’m facing.

Yes, with the new VFB this is correct.
As it is, you are viewing the original REs (that’s why your CC ui is grey: you’re in viewing mode for what it is you’re seeing in the VFB.), and as the layers suggest, applying corrections to the RGB.
The reasoning is that if you’re going to recomp the REs, you’ll also have the means to carry over most of the CCs (including curves, luts, and certainly exposure) to the compositing application.
However, should you elect to cc the render elements, you can do that easily enough (if somewhat laboriously before the B2B RE comes out) sourcing a composite, and adding the layers which point to the REs.
At that point, you’ll be able to see a composite of the final image, and apply CC at the top (and so to everything below the CC operator) and individually, per layer (see attached).

Features will surely be added, and refined in time, but this is the lay of the land, currently.

Thanks for the info
The B2B RE will definitely be useful.

However in my situation I just needed some RE (Specular, Reflection and Shadow) with the CC applied.
I don’t do a lot of retouch or crazy compositing of my renders, most of it is done trough the VFB Color correction because some client ask me just the RGB, Reflection, Refraction and Specular pass. They do their changes with these passes.
As they can ask a lot of changes during the process, having as less clicks as possible is essential on this part for me.

In Vray Next just selecting the RE and save it was fast and efficient.

In VRay 5 the Composite section is still bit obscure to me, I still have to get used to this new VFB2, some actions sure need more clicks than previously but with time I’m sure new buttons and features will be added to make things faster and more ergonomic.
The VFB2 sure has a lot of potential so I can’t wait to see more.
