vray and finalrender skylight

hi everybody,

this is my test on skylight. Why vray sky produce so much artifacts?
I use vray 1.09 and direct computation for secondary bounces. I tried to modify the settings but without results.
I have noticed that if I use a vray light instead of skylight the light has not artifacts.

I have to say that finalrender skylight is much better and faster.

I hope vray 1.46 with lightmap will be better than 1.09.

hI fABRIZIO !

You don’t use the good method for inside scene…
You should use photon mapping with Hsv Exponential color mapping.

Try to look for tutorial on how to use photon mapping in the forum.

WITH 1.46 Lightmap is faster , it has its advantages and desavantages.

Don’t worry, vray is very good in many situations and propose a lot of differrent features to achieve your goal.

Hi Gael,

I used color mapping but I can’t use photon mapping with skylight…or am I wrong?

bye

You will have a very hard time getting this scene to render in VRay 1.09 without a light at the window. In VRay 1.46, you have the lightmap, which will work with plain skylight too. In this case, it would be best to use irradiance map + lightmap. There is a demo version of VRay 1.46 on our site, if you want to give it a try.

Best regards,
Vlado

Hi Fabrizio !

If you want to use photon mapping, here is a good explanation from Goncalo with the scene.
