vray and maya fluids

Hi Vlado,

I’ve been suggested by a colleague to drop you a line about this.

Basically I’m exploring the possibility of using vray to render high quality steam smoke vapour like fluids created in maya 2011.

I’m trying to pull as much quality as I can but the results with vray in maya aren’t that great.
I tried both 1.5 and 2.0beta on maya2011 64bit with the same results. step size doesn’t seem to improve the look.

Coming from other render solutions where shaders attached to the fluid would enhance the look (think ramps, noises) I wonder if there is a vray fluid shader I could try or any recommended tips etc…
Here’s the test scene used so you can take a look at it (you need to point the nCache path to your current directory for the fluid to appear):

Thanks a lot for your help

p.s.
Also, while on subject, It would be nice to see the zDepth secondary supported

thanks

Sorry for the late reply; will look at the scene, but in any case we are working to improve fluid rendering.

Best regards,
Vlado
