Vray benchmark results summary (performance cost)

Here is the summary results from the benchmark thread :
http://www.chaosgroup.com/forum/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=12220

If you want to submit your result download the 3DSMAX percydaman’s test scene :
mirror 1 : http://myweb.cableone.net/amylenhart/cornelltestnew.max
mirror 2 : http://www.visites-3d.com/visites-3d/postforum/cornelltestnew.max

I will try to update the results but I realy need you to post :

1)The original processor(s) specs ( since some are overclocked).
2)The complete rendered image with Vray 1.47.03 and not only its bottom…

NOTE 1 : some results will not be added to the list :
-DR rendering
-wrong VRay version
-Cropped images / strange colored images and basicly any image that looks to much different from the other.
- If your rendering time is much faster than the average speed for the same setup.

NOTE 2 : The prices listed below are more european prices. US prices are often cheaper. Prices come from http://monsieurprix.fr/hardware/gen/140025.html

wth does that “fake” mean??

it means that that is 99.99% sure you have changed the scene settings to get this result.

And if you are honnest (0.001% ) then at least post the entire image please.

t’es pas serieux, hein? c’est vraiement pas la peine de faire un benchmark si on change des trûcs - en fait, les mots me manquent… il ne me semble pas croyable que tu questionnes ma professionalité.

then, plz upload the complete rendering…

Ben upload une image complete et je te met dans le classement…

First of all I have to say that I really thought about replying again, as imho your behavior really lacks the spirit that is usually kept in this forum, but anyhow I felt I had to.

it means that that is 99.99% sure you have changed the scene settings to get this result.

And if you are honnest (0.001% ) then at least post the entire image please.

If you review closely what you said, then you should probably recognize that, let me say, you didn’t find the right words. What you meant was rather, that iyho I was changing the settings to get better results (still don’t see why though), so I would go “It means, that I am 99.99% sure…”.
Second as we’re mostly CG professionals here, nothing would be easier to fake it in Photoshop than tweaking settings, so do you really think a full rendering could be used as a proof for authencity for the results instead of saving bandwith and postlenght by just posting the stamp - if so (as it seems), what do you think counts more - the full rendering or the credibility of the word of your fellow forum members? And third, if you give me a 0.001 chance of beeing honest, where did the other 0.009% go  ?

my 2 cents.
Michael

Oops, nearly forgot:

and especially for you

I had already deleted all relevant images and scenes from my harddrive so I had to download it again and rerender. Dunno why the first one is nearly 2 seconds slower than the old rendering omg!

edit:
I would be pleased if you leave the list as it is, as i prefer to be listed like this.

hehe, its friday guys, not monday…

And third, if you give me a 0.001 chance of beeing honest, where did the other 0.009% go ?
LOL. I could see where someone would get pissed. Perhaps if N6 had his doubts, it was best being left off.

At least you were listed Sushi… Looks like my old AMD 3200 XP 64 results wasnt even posted. And it looks like the charts aren’t even fully updated.

If you can, you could add my results on the same machine specs as Daforce’s. The only thing we have different is the motherboard. My rendertimes are 5:53. …and please don’t make me have to rerender and post another image to prove my innocence or guilt…

Anyway this is good to have this tab, Thanx n6 8) .

Just a correction, my machine is Dual Opteron 246, was a typo on my part.

@priad
What was your memory settings?

@Dynedain

Are you sure??

4 Go but like you must know, only 3 are used. With dell not 3GBswitch

oops sorry , and what is your procs original speed?

3,6 you are right.

For those of you being offended, don’t be. The point of this excercise is not to get the best rendertime possible with your equipment by tweaking the scene. The point is to have everyone render the exact same thing so that comparisons between different machines can be made. If you tweak the scene or settings to get a better rendertime, then your result is useless in comparing to different setups since you aren’t rendering the same thing.

That said, here’s the full image:

Rendered through Max7. The reason why the OS is “unknown” is because its Windows XP 64. The processor configuration is a Dual Opteron 246 (not dual core) from BoXX.

Processor: 1 Intel P4 Hyperthreading ( but Max see a Dual P4) at 2.6 Ghz on a DELL

It is absolutely clear that this is the reason of any benchmark. And i did change some things: I unchecked netrender and save file, as the outputpath didn’t exist on my machine . I’ve just been offended because of beeing called non honest and a faker…

Regards,
Michael

btw - machine specs are a dual SL72Y
2Gb Muskin Black L2 2-2-2-5 PAT @1:1
17x206
PCL Deluxe, U-wire MOD 1,525V to 1,575V
OC by clockgen
HT enabled

I will validate your result since your XEONs are 1Mb cache and this can explain (+ your high FSB +M0 are known to be the best stepping) the difference between the other results.

heh, thanks for taking the time to put it together!

As a little side note. The frequency/MHZ that Vray lists isnt always that accurate. But its better than nothing
