Vray blend material

Hi guys,
sometimes I want a material with two reflection types - glossy and matte. I use blend to make them. Usually I make a base and just copy it to coat and change the reflection type. Both materials have the same diffuse (colour or tex) as it doesn’t add or make the material lighter. Now I see this produces this white burn where the sun hits it. I was turning off and on reflections only to realize this white burn is due to texture, not reflection. When I reduced the sun to 0.001 it did not give a nice lower “burn” but it washed out, like grey burn. Am I using the vrayblenmtl wrong?
I did not check additive shellac mode.

I usually turn off Fresnel and diffuse(black) for the coat material and make the reflection color white. Than I use a falloff map in Fresnel mode as opacity for the coat.
I control the strength of the second reflection with the Output Amount of the falloff.
Also I use the bump mtl to add the bump on top of the blend mtl instead of adding it to the base materials.

I’ve seen others doing it the same way. Don’t know if its right though. But I’ve had no problems with this approach yet.

Edit: To control the strength, you need to turn the blend amount color for the reflection coat black.

Will try that. Didn’t test it in renders but when you put black diffuse on coat it darkens the material in editor preview, so I always thought that was wrong…and if you use the same colour/texture on coat as the base it looks the same.

Jea, but not if reflection is white and fresnel is off.
You’ll get a mirror ball.
And use the fresnel map as blend mask to get the fresnel falloff back
