vray color

i must be missing something here. What is the advantage of using “vray color map” over just using the color slot in vray material?

I find it useful in the Opacity slot of a VRayMtl. Otherwise it is mostly designed for use with materials/textures that do not have color slots, just map slots (there are a few of these in 3dsmax).

yup, previously we had to do something goofy like use a checker material with both swatches being one color.
