whats going wrong when i have holes in object i use vray displacement on?
when i use values that are higher then a certain amount my object get transparend areas or better say holes.
i use 3d displacement and “keep continuity”.

try this:
apply mesh smooth modifier to the object but give it 0 iterations. This helps sometimes.

thanks for the reply but it doesn´t help. ![]()
are you refering to the waterlevel that is used to cut holes in objects using displacement?
no.
it looks like thick spider webs when i increase the hight of the displacement above a certain level.
The vray diplacement mod doesn’t accept UV discontinuity. You may need to stich manually your UVs if you’re concerned by this.
thanks… but i think that is not the case ist a simple cylinder with a cylindrical mapping.
Could you post a picture or a scene? Would make it a lot easier for us to troubleshoot this..
If your using values higher than 1 in white or less than 0 in black using 3d displacement you will get geometry clipping. This is a limitation of the software - if this is what you are experiencing bake out your maps and use 2d displacment - you can push this as far as you like.
egz if you don´t mind i send you a image.
