Vray fails when trying to render scene with Ornatrix fur...

Hi all, I’ve submitted a support request but thought I’d ask if anyone else has had or solved this issue:

Maya 2018.5
Ornatrix (Latest build)
3.60.04 Vray for Maya

Recreate: Add poly sphere. Add Ornatrix for Maya to sphere. Render Vray for Maya.= // Error: V-Ray : There was a fatal error updating the scene at time 1.000000 for V-Ray
Remove Ornatrix from sphere, Vray renders properly.

Tested on two different (Win 10) workstations with the same error.

I have also contacted Ornatrix support about this.

Latest builds of Ornatrix are supported only in V-Ray Next for Maya.

Hello,

You can render Ornatrix V2 hair, but you need to use the legacy Render Settings operator. This is not available from the GUI - select the last operator on the hair stack, then enter the following MEL command:

OxAddStrandOperator “” “RenderSettingsNode”;

After this your hair should render fine. As Nikolay noted, full support for V2 is available in V-Ray Next.
