I’m using a VRAY light set to Plane to simulate a 2x4 ceiling light. When its renders the light is outlined in a black pixelated line. why is the line showing up?

if you are using a sharpening filter such as catmull or mitchell, that it’s likely to be the cause. you may want to switch to a non sharpening one, or check clamp output and subpixel mapping, or turning off filtering altogether.
