I just installed vray build 1.46.04 and when I build a simple scene, such as a vray plane, teapot, and vray light, my scene renders completely black. It only does that when I add the vray light. Also, this is what my scene looks like when I add the light. Is this normal?
I’m very new to vray, so am I doing something wrong?
Thanks, that definitely helps. My scene renders correctly now and the teapot looks as it should in the viewport. I had no idea you had to give a size to the light.
Something else I’ve noticed. I gave my teapot a standard vray material and when I change the diffuse color to something like red and then click on my vray light to move it in my scene, it defaults my material back to gray. I’ve also noticed that if I drag my light somewhere and then click to drag it again, it reverts back to it’s previous location before the first drag. Kind of strange. Any thoughts?
I’ve just opened your scene again and the light moves around ok for me. The only thing is your light is facing north in the scene and is single sided. If you move the light further north than your teapot it is not going to illuminate it. So the teapot might look dark grey.
I didn’t resave the scene, so not sure if you would have seen the problem I was having. Regardless, I’ve since restarted my computer and tried it again and it’s working perfectly now. Must have been a freak thing.
