first i wanna thank you for posting my mail. As mentioned, the project is close to release. I’m currently programming the interface, the raking/rating tool, comments-area and the personal author page with userimage etc.
But the biggest thing are the materials. When we’re going online with the page we need a lot of cool materials
If there is something to show I gonna tell you Stay tuned for the next week!
So i guess we gotta wait till next week and see what happens
It’s a fine idea, but i wouldn’t rip the maxwell model: that is definitely intended for product design scale and projects, imo.
A simple custom made scene would be more than enough.
And as i saw mentioned, maybe a couple or three for different purposes, and with a power of 10 difference in scale (10mm,10cm,10m or something like it).
As for the maxwell->vray mat converter (daforce the pest…), i think it isn’t much doable.
Particularly as i have now way to extract the maxwell mat infos from their studio thing.
Unless the mxm format is open-source and readable (even in binary form), which i very much doubt.
mcvltd:
See the email attached below they have stressed that its to be free for all vray users

How nice of you to join us
What do you think of the models that the german team have shown so far?
See the email i quote previously and the one below.
jow:
Thanks mate, will keep that in mind. I will most definitly need some help once we start getting things into order.

Im still working on another way of getting the model. I just need a little more time on the weekend to see if it will work.
And the most recent email from the german chap and attachments
Hi,
just another small update. We made a new model, and some floor stuff.
BUT IT IS STILL A DUMMY-OBJECT AND NOT FINAL!
The Rendertime is currently 5-15 minutes (small AthlonXP 2600) - I guess this is ok. And we wanna reduce the final image-size to 440x500px or so.
And we don’t wanna take money for this service!!! This platform should be free - from vray-users to vray-users. And if we get problems with the traffic it should be possible to show a SMALL(!!!) advertising-banner - this should not be a problem I guess.
So, as I said before, stay tunend. Check our forum http://www.3dmax.de for more infos.
CYA!
Mit freundlichem Gruß

I really like the object in demo_4.jpg. The square feet will really help to show the fresnel settings. The tapered legs will help with refraction and fog settings. If you could suggest to him that to make sure there’s a surface somewhere that’s directly facing the camera (unlike in the maxwell object). That would be good for testing the limit of the fresnel settings.
Something I just thought of that wasn’t addressed in Maxwell’s object was the rendering of surface interfaces (wine in a glass). It would be helpful to have that included.
I like where this is going!
I would ask, however, what language the final page is going to be in. My german is a little rusty
