I was just trying to test render an older scene with backburner. It has trees in it that have been converted to vray meshes. When I did so, the meshes went to the default path on my computer. Obviously, the slaves can’t see the mesh on my workstation. Is there a way to move the definition (the mesh) to a network location then redefine the link between the proxy and the mesh?
Or is there a way to repath where vray looks for meshes?
You can specify the path when exporting the vrmesh. Also you can move the vrmesh to another folder and update the path in the command panel when creating the proxy.
I know. My point is, it’s an older scene. I converted the mesh and created the proxy weeks ago and specified a local folder at that time. So the proxy already exists, and points to a local file for the vray mesh which also already exists. The network machines don’t see this file. Make sense?
Can you select the proxy and change the path? When I select a proxy it’s name and path come up in the command panel. Or am I still not understanding your problem?
If a .vrmesh is not found at the path specified in the VRayProxy object, V-Ray will look for it in the Bitmap/Photometric paths; so you can just copy your .vrmesh files there.
Next Q. I am trying to test render an image to file with a new machine. I restored a Ghost image to this machine from another slave that works fine. When I submit a job to this new machine, it now renders ok, but errors out at the end saying “Error message: The system cannot find the path specified”. The path specified is a network drive (Z:) where I store projects. I know the drive is there, and it is mapped on the new machine. Why do I get this message?
