Vray Next substantively slower than 3.6?

​​​​​​​I did a test render, between 3.6 and the NEXT demo on the attached scene. I didn’t change any settings. The 3.6 render took 13:45. The next render took 20:41. Needless to say, that was seriously disappointing…

Is there some magic switch I’m unaware of that I need to flip to see better (or at least equivalent) render times?

My bad, there was a settings change. next is 3.2 minutes faster.

p.s.: if you have a dome, turn adaptive on and try again!
