I am unable to export my vray materials to a USD file. While trying to export it to USD through the vray tab in maya, i get the error shown in the image attached. Alternatively, if i try to export it using the maya USD export, I do not see a Vray option in the plug-in Configurations that lets me select my materials. Can someone help with this? Thanks!!

I presume it has something to do with the supported USD versions, which depend on the Maya and V-Ray versions. There’s a table on the docs page here. Check if this is the case on your end. You can check the USD version in the Plug-in Manager (Windows > Settings/Preferences > Plug-in Manager); type USD and check the path above the mayaUsdPlugin.mll.
Hi, Thanks for your reply. Like you’d mentioned, the USD version wasn’t supported. So i downloaded a supported version. But when i installed it and tried to point maya to the new plug-in, it broke v-ray. Now vray doesn’t work in maya. I tried reinstalling both Maya and Vray, but nothing works. I even tried loading the default USD version, but it doesn’t seem to switch to that in the plugin manager. Really lost, and now my vray doesn’t work either. l could really use some help with this. A total noob to this USD stuff. I’m using maya 2025.2 and the USD version is 0.29 (which isn’t supported by vray)
I would recommend installing the latest Vray 7.1 which supports USD .031 and M2025.3, that is what Im running and its working fine.
Did you install a new USD or V-Ray version? Maybe you need to re-enable the V-Ray plugins in the Plug-in Manager? Otherwise, try installing a USD version that’s supported.
