***************** Correction, for MARI 3.3 *****************
I did mention this before a few moths back but I would love a simple version of Vray in MARI 3.3 to render the shaders before exporting maps to 3ds max.
Is it easy to make a super simple version, very chopped down to just render vray mtl in MARI 3.3 ?
Would this plugin be simple to create and does this interest chaos group?
I asked the foundry people and they said its up to chaos group.
Link is to see whats new in Mari 3.3
Thank you.

Im very sorry - I accidentally said Nuke instead of Mari
When you say ‘Nuke’ you actually mean ‘Mari’? Or do I not understand something? I thought Mari already included a version of the V-Ray material shader.
Hi Vlado,
I asked people over on the Foundry forums and here is their feedback:
“mari api’s are included with the install. The MODO integration source is included as an example of using the render integration.” -- Deke Kincaid
and
"This is an example of what could be done. There is some C Api and documentation for that, and the example of how it works. MARI 3: MODO Bake and Render Integration" -- netocg
I hope this makes sense and helps. I don’t understand any of it but I hope that means that you have access to an SDK
Man I hope this helps and will enable you to test a V-Ray render window. It would just be so damn helpful to render in Mari without having to export to 3ds max.
“…Yes Mari does have an SDK..it has both Python and C API. The Modo Render Engine in Mari is actually meant as an example how to integrate renderers into Mari.” -- Jens
Hi Vlado, how did you go with this info? It sounds promising. It would seam that Mari comes with or has an SDK and that the Modo render view is an example for others on how to make one! - I hope you can make this.
If you chose to do this, may you please also consider:
- an updated V-Ray material with GGX’s GTR tail falloff control
- Alsurface
It should work just like in Substance painter with iray - very simple and user friendly
To me this would be a game changer.
If you want, you could implement bakeing options too
