You might have missed some setting here and there.
Make sure you watch it through before experimenting.
I recorded it live (never paused it), so if all other things are equal, you should get the same results by repeating the same operations ![]()

Yeah - Possibly - Is there anyway that you can supply that max file, with the gargoyle??
I am still having to add an output map at 0.025 or so to my Vraysky environment. Also there is loads of noise.
I’ll take another look and post my scene settings again. Thanks for all the help.
Regards Peter.
Well - back to Maxwell - I guess!
Cheers Peter.

Lol man, a bit skippy ![]()
There’s a whole thread on my tut, with many people getting what they wanted off it.
I didn’t share a scene as it’s really basic stuff i do in the tut.
What is it you want, a scene with colors at a quarter brightness and a camera exposed so that they look “white”?
It ain’t a hard job in itself, by any means, but from a FLEXIBLE engine like vray it may require some attention (not much, tbh).
If maxwell ticks you off (instead of 25 sec renderings for the sameish results), it’s entirely your choice.
No love loss, tbh ![]()

back to drawing board nothin to see here
Lele - I just needed to get something out, so I slipped back to Maxwell while I figured it out in Vray. I must have spent too much time in front of the monitor or something. I haven’t really been back to it but will take a quick look again.
It is very frustrating when I know it can do what I am trying to do in a fraction of the time as Maxwell but I just couldn’t spend anymore time on it without getting something done.
I agree it should be easy and I must be missing something that is staring me in the face. That is why I wanted to look at that Max file.
I covered most of the tutorials 3 parts at least 3x each and I am obviously still missing something. I will try on a project and see what happens. My projects are large file sizes and take a long time to render so adjusting settings at nauseum (sp?) is really tedious.
Cheers Peter.
It’s here.
From your reply i thought you “abandoned” the ship entirely, so i didn’t upload.
And i didn’t upload it before as i was under some pressure from other stuff.
Also, read through the tutorial thread (mind the flames  ), as people asked good questions and elaborated on it.
And there’s a script lying around in it which helps with things (get version 1.1b. the first link won’t work anymore as it had a bug).
In any case, welcome back aboard, dude ![]()

LOL - That’s funny - Sorry! I was just frustrated I had to go back to the molassas approach for this one image I had to get out!
Thanks for all the help. As a lot of people, I find it increasingly difficult to find time to learn new things. My clients are happy with the status quo of my renders but I find them really bad in comparison to stuff I see here. I’m trying to learn in my spare time, which there is very little of.
Thanks again. I really appreciate all the help I am receiving. Especially from people so knowledgeable.
P.S. - Maxwell has it’s place but, IMHO, will never come close to Vray for what is possible related to time to produce.
Cheers Peter.
