Hello!
Recently, I opened an old file with a lot of objects and collections to test some features from Vray and I received a warning like this:
It took me a while to realize that this Black material was Grease Pencil material that is automatically created when you add a GP empty or so, and I forgot to remove it from the old file before rendering.
The IPR runs correctly and even shows the Grease Pencil outline in the viewport, which I suppose shouldn’t happen, right?
I’d like to suggest two things:
- IPR could warn or give the same error message as when you try to render the scene.
- The error message could indicate which Object or Object Type contains the unsupported material.
I understand that a material could be used by many objects, which makes it hard to point to many object names in the warning message, but perhaps indicating the object type that contains it, like the Grease Pencil?
A quick way to remove the material is through the Outliner > Display Mode > Blender File > Material.
