Hello ! Since the update to MacOS 27 can’t use GPU rendering with my m4 pro Mac, it just crashes. Same scene rendered in minutes in MacOS 26, seems the windows server blocks vRay from using 100 %, and it crashes when rendering with GPU. All I’ve managed to do is render with CPU .. but its slower .. at least it works. This is not a vray problem - its more of a MacOS 27 issue .. does anyone know how to fix it ?
Hello, Sebastian!
Could you please share the following:
-
A screenshot of the exact V-Ray version and SketchUp version.
-
Can the crash be replicated with any project file (an empty new one ) or just with some files?
-
The V-Ray render log and the macOS crash report, if one was generated.
-
You mentioned WindowServer blocking V-Ray. Did you see a specific error message or log entry indicating this? A screenshot would help us investigate.
hello ! I’ve restarted the machine several times, also use some terminal comand to change Sketchup priority, it seems that windows server interferes with vray VFB somehow - probably the constant redraw .. Since the terminal comand it renders fine with GPU at 100 % usage. Couldn’t replicate the problem since (and I’m happy its working fine)
Thank you for sharing this, Sebastian!
I’m glad GPU rendering is working again.
Could you share the exact Terminal command you used to change SketchUp’s priority? Did you make any other changes before the issue stopped occurring?
Sure - used AI to research - I think this was the one that actually did something - hope It helps someone
bash
export VRAY_NUM_THREADS=0 && open -a “SketchUp”
