I’m using the vray dirt to drive some mix of two materials, and I also want to have different bumps levels between this two materials that correspond with that dirt.
I’m trying several ways, but no luck with this.
I think it’s a circular reference: AO would consider bump, and bump would need AO to be computed.
Bake the Dirt, and then you’ll be able to use it as mask in the bump slot.
well I could use then Curvature for the matter, less fancy but that looks like not working either.
There is times where you don’t wanna bake anything, using triplanars for example. Is there a work arround for that?
I see!, I’ve tested both, true the bump affects the result of the occlusion or curvature.
Its a shame because that would be so usefull, like Substance Painter handles that kind of things with the different bump levels for each layer.
Could the dirt have a “Not affected by BumpNormals” option so we can useit for masking the bump. or is that something very stupid?
Well, if both are working in the other slots, which don’t modify the shaded normal, that’d be a bit of a coincidence.
I have of course no data in hand to know if it is the case in code, and so i may well be very wrong (and not for the first, or last time either.).
Actually the Curvature is affected by bump, but not so sure about the Dirt now.
Anyways none of them works on the bump channel.
Also problems in bump with the OSL maps.
This two things are quite big problems, resolving this for me is very important.
I would like to know what is the actuall status of this by some developer, lets see If I’m lucky
I can confirm it has never worked for me to use dirt or curvature in the bump map slot. Its such a shame. I am sure there must be a good reason why it doesnt otherwise i dont see why its not already supported.
