translucency seems to work here, what is it that doesn’t in your scene?

Well, the whole translucency. Anything I set in translucency doesn’t do anything it seems Could you maybe attach a small max file where we could see the effect in action and modify it from there?

here’s a quick scene. just a vray mtl with translucency activated and a tinted backside colour to see the effect. don’t know if it’s any different from what you’re getting.. translucency.zip (32.1 KB)

Thanks for that link, it’s a great explanation. Interesting that only grayscale values are recommended for the fog colour and refraction. I wouldn’t often think of using a colour in the refraction slot but I almost always do in the fog colour when I’m trying to approach a translucent material. I s…
