vraymultisubtex, normalmaps and gpu

Hi,

is there any way to get normal maps to render in the vraymultisubtex node with GPU? If not is there an eta on support?

Thanks

Hello,

I can confirm that this material setup doesn’t work on V-Ray GPU so I’ve logged it in our internal bug-tracking system under VGPU-6224.

Best,
Philip

thanks buddy

So to get the bump from the vraymultisubtex , as a workaround I was using the vraycolor2bump node, unfortunately if you then pass this through a composite node, it stops working.

Hi @francomanko ,

Could you attach a screenshot of your material setup for clarification ? I can’t seem to reproduce this one on my end.

I noticed it is actually there but really faint. I also noticed, surprise surprise, its fine on CPU, but not GPU..sigh.

This is having to crank the bump to 50cm.

This is same, but thro a composite.

Archived max scene ‘color2bump.zip’ is here.

Thank you for providing additional info. VRayColor2Bump should be directly wired to VRayMtl’s bump slot to work properly, so the solution is to swap positions with the Composite node. Another recommendation is to reduce the amount of color2bump’s height parameter and respectively increase the bump amount in VRayMtl itself.

ah ok of course, thanks, much appreciated. On a side note, maybe this info could be added to the docs, as its always useful to know.

hi, is there any update on fix for the normalmaps issue? VGPU-6224

Hello again @francomanko ,
I’m afraid we still don’t have any updates on this.

We are taking a look at this

Best,
Muhammed

any chance we can get this working?

We had a chance to look at this, however, it was more complex to fix than expected. It will take more time.
