I love the fact we have this feature now. Would it be possible, in the future, to be able to exclude items? For ex. Landcape, cars, etc.
Hi Luma3d,
Yes, we have it logged as an improvement but cannot say at the moment when it will become available.
Best regards,
Alexander
I feel the same way. I’m thrilled that this feature has been introduced, but due to the limited number of available options, I still using on V-Ray Toon in VRAY for my projects and animations (animations hurts the most because of the time, especially that vray GPU doesnt support it.)
1. Exclude / Include Lists
This is the feature I miss the most. Perhaps the most straightforward way to implement an Exclude function would be through Object Properties? It would allow for much more flexible control in complex scenes.
2. Line Thickness Control
Currently, line thickness is somewhat dependent on the camera’s distance from the object. This causes significant issues with visual consistency, especially when using orthographic cameras or dealing with objects at different scales.
In some scenarios, it’s practically impossible to achieve a sufficiently thick line.
It is essential to have a toggle between two measurement systems:
- Pixels: For a constant screen-space width regardless of distance.
- World Units: For thickness that scales correctly within the scene’s dimensions.
3. Drawing qualiity
Even after update 3.2.1 there is many bugs with quality of lines. not sharp enough, not consistent, sometimes black - sometimes gray.
4. Toggle to bind toon opacity (per object) with object visibility (object properties in 3ds max)
Currently, during animation rendering in Vantage, lines for objects appearing/disappearing in the scene (e.g., assembly animations) only start to draw when the Visibility value reaches 1. This results in a jarring, ‘step-like’ appearance of lines on objects that are already partially visible.
It would be great to have an Opacity option and a per-object toggle for value binding that links Opacity with the Visibility parameter. This would ensure that lines fade in smoothly along with the object’s transparency, instead of popping in abruptly.
Vantage is perfect for animations, toon is perfect for “technical”. Sounds like 4 is must to have ![]()

Ortho camera ---> ortho render effects = poor quality of toon

Perspective camera viewport ---> setted as a ortho in render settings = higher lines consistency
